The TMI Version

Persephone King is the pseudonym of Sarah Daniels.

Persephone holds an MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore, where she teaches writing to undergraduates, high school students, and the incarcerated. She is the publisher and executive director of Mason Jar Press. Previously, she worked as a community newspaper reporter, a minion in publishing, a flack for people who may or may not be famous, a cocktail waitress, and a wiper of other people’s bottoms.

She chiefly writes fiction, creative nonfiction, and screenplays. In addition to writing, she also designs book covers and interiors.

Her reading tastes and literary influences are eclectic. In her youth, she gobbled horror, science fiction, and dystopian tales. Inexplicably, as a teenager, she was obsessed with Joseph Conrad. Currently, she digs Louise Erdrich, George Saunders, and Haruki Murakami. She also enjoys long-form journalism.

In her spare time, she dabbles in photography and other visual art forms. She knits compulsively but will only crochet under duress. She is a breast cancer survivor and an unapologetic optimist. She lives with her family and two bonkers poodles in Baltimore, surrounded by water.
